Dr. X. Li is now a research fellow at the Cercia, Computer Science, Birmingham University, UK. He received the B.S.E., M.S.E. and PhD from China, in 1992, 1995, and 1997, respectively, all in mechanical engineering. From April 1998 to Oct. 2000, he was a Research Fellow of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. From Nov. 2000 to Nov. 2002 He was a Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools, Hannover University, Germany. From Nov. 2002 to Sept. 2003, he was a Postdoc fellow at the Dept. of Automation & Computer - Aided Engg, Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2002, he also was appointed as professor at the Electrical Engineering School, Yanshan University. China.
To date, Dr. Li has had more than 40 papers published in various international journal papers. To add to his many talents, Xiaoli is a fine tennis player, and also enjoys swimming in his leisure time.
Dr Li has spent much of his working life collaborating with industry. He has developed intelligent condition monitoring systems and has also conducted much research into intelligent diagnosis systems for stamping and plastic injection processing for corporations in China. In Germany, once again, he worked with local industries to create intelligent monitoring systems for high-speed machine tools. At present, he is working on the EEG monitoring system. Dr Li's main research interests presently include intelligent monitoring, computational intelligence, signal processing and data analysis, biosignal processing and learning systems.
