World Record Attempt Is Now Complete

On Friday, 30th January 2004, Cercia research fellow, Colin Frayn achieved an official world record for the largest number of computers working together to play a single game of chess. The ChessBrain project, an international collaboration lead by veteran programmer Carlos Justiniano based in California, utilised the power of 2,070 computers connecting over the internet, fought hard and achieved a draw in a demonstration game against top Danish Grandmaster Peter Heine Nielsen.
