An Internal Workshop on Ensemble Learning

An internal workshop on ensemble learning was held on 18 November 2004, where 8 people presented their perspectives, ideas and work on ensembles. The informal workshop was designed to enhance communications and explore collaborations among people in the School who are interested in ensemble learning. It was amazing to see how different people interpret ensemble learning!

The workshop was organised by Gavin Brown and supported by Cercia. The workshop programme was as follows.

  • Xin Yao, Two heads are better than one
  • Arjun Chandra, DIVACE (DIVerse and ACcurate Ensembles)
  • Vineet Khare, Observations on Mixtures vs. Ensembles
  • Pete Duell, Observations on Evolving Ensemble Architectures
  • Ping Sun, Leave One Out Cross Validation for ensembles
  • Peter Tino, An Introdction to Latent Space Methods
  • Ata Kaban, Introduction to Ensemble Learning (cf Bayesian Inference)
  • Gavin Brown, Bias and Variance and Why They Matterd
