Miss Fernanda Li Minku, a PhD student from Cercia, has been offered a highly competitive Google internship for the period of 5 October 2009 to 26 March 2010. Fernanda was also previously a finalist for the Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship in 2006 and 2007, and won 1000 euros.

- Siang Yew Chong won the prestigious 2009 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award for his PhD on "Generalization and Diversity in Co-evolutionary Learning", University of Birmingham, UK, 2007. He was selected iin 2008 as the sole winner after fierce international competition. Siang Yew is now a lecturer at the University of Nottingham’s Malaysia campus.
- Andrea Arcuri also won a competitive IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Walter J. Karplus Summer Research Scholarship in 2008, which enabled him to spend two months in a world-leading software engineering group at GeorgiaTech, USA.
