With the support of an Artist in Residency grant from the Leverhulme Trust awarded to Dr. Thorsten Schnier, Cercia will be hosting artist Dr. Myfanwy Johns for 12 months starting September. During her visit, Myfanwy will engage with students and researchers in Computer Science and across the College and University. Myfanwy’s interests are at the boundaries between creative engagement, advanced engineering methods (in particular rapid manufacturing), and computer science. The residency will start with a seminar and a one-day workshop in September.
Examples of Myfanwy’s work can be found on her web sites, http://www.myfanwyjohns.com/ and http://ah.brookes.ac.uk/staff/details/johns/. Or head over to the MAC, where you find her design woven into the carpet and etched into wood panelling and stone work on the walls (work in collaboration with members of the Bosnian Cultural Centre Midlands).
For more information, and to get involved, contact Thorsten Schnier (t.schnier@cercia.ac.uk) or Bob Hendley (R.J.Hendley@cs.bham.ac.uk).
