17-12-2004 - Prof Xin Yao, Cercia Director, gave an invited keynote speech at the 5th International Conference on Recent Advances in Soft Computing (RASC2004), in Nottingham, UK, on 17 December 2004, on “Simple Evolutionary Computation Techniques That Work Better”.
14-12-2004 - Cercia hosted the visit by Professor Shigeyoshi Tsutsui (Hannan University, Japan), Professor Isao Hayashi (Kansai University, Japan) and Dr. Tomoharu Nakashima (Osaka Prefecture University) on 14 December 2004. In addition to informal discussions with Cercia research fellows, Professors Tsutsui and Hayashi also gave talks on evolutionary computation and neural networks, respectively.
13-12-2004 - Cercia is anticipate to recruit a network coordinator and research associate for the “Nature Inspired Creative Design Cluster”. The post will be available from 1/1/2005, until 31/12/2005. Further extension of the post may be possible, subject to funding availability.
13-12-2004 - Cercia welcomes Dr. Hisashi Handa from the Okayama University, who joined us on 13 December 2004 as a visiting researcher until 15 September 2005. Dr. Handa’s main interest is in evolutionary computation. He will be working on evolutionary optimisation at Cercia.
