Cercia Annual Review

17-12-2008 - Cercia held its annual review day and Christmas lunch on the top floor of the Staff House. Four talks were given by Chris Bowers on the EPSRC project on "Advanced Analysis of Building Energy Performance using Computational Intelligence Approaches", Yang Li on "Open-ended Evolutionary Art Design Systems", Shan He on his Leverhulme Fellowship project on "Swarm Intelligence and Animal Aggregation Behaviours", and Huanhuan Chen on the BBSRC project on "Automated metabolite identification and quantification using J-resolved NMR spectroscopy".

10-12-2008 - Prof. Xin Yao, Cercia Director, delivered his IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Distinguished Lecture on "The Evolution of Evolutionary Computation" in Brisbane, Australia, on 10 December 2008, sponsored by the IEEE CIS Queensland Chapter. The lecture was broadcasted through the Access Grid to the University of Queensland, Griffith University, Central Queensland University and Queensland University of Technology.

Weishan Dong is coming to us from The Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and will be with us until April 2009. Yang Yu is from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Nanjing University (P.R.China) and will be with us until March 2009.
