01-07-2009 - Dr. Siang Yew Chong from the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus visited CERCIA for one month on 1-31 July 2009. He was working with Dr. Peter Tino and Professor Xin Yao on co-evolutionary learning. Dr. Chong was a former PhD student and research fellow at CERCIA before taking up a lecturing position at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
24-06-2009 - Professor Xin Yao gave an invited keynote speech at the Twenty Second International Conference on Industrial, Engineering & Other Applications of Applied Intelligent Systems (IEA/AIE-09), 24-27 June 2009, Tainan, Taiwan. During the trip, he also visited National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan and University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, China.

05-01-2009 - Prof. Xin Yao, Cercia Director, took up his duty as the Vice President for Publications of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society today. He was elected last year by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society to serve as the VP for Publications in 2009-10. H has just completed his maximum term as the editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation (2003-08)
02-01-2009 - Miss Fernanda Li Minku, a PhD student from Cercia, has been offered a highly competitive Google internship for the period of 5 October 2009 to 26 March 2010. Fernanda was also previously a finalist for the Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship in 2006 and 2007, and won 1000 euros.
